When the consciousness reduces itself to a pinpoint, a speck, through devotional concentration, it is striving to slide under the partition into the realm of intuition (GNOSIS), where there is no room for even the speck, no place for the vehicle of ego, no container which can contain divine knowledge. Therefore, the container must be left at the door, as one removes one’s shoes upon entering a house.
The last few “frissons” of letting go of the self are difficult to get past: the self clings to the pinprick with all its might!
One may experience a highly emotional state of bereftness, the sense of the losing of self, the loneliness unbearable. Arrival beyond the partition? Not in any form of which one can be conscious!
